Private Garage Car Lift in England: How Mutrade S-VRC Creates Hidden Inter-Floor Parking

Publish Time: 2026-08-13     Origin: Site

Modern luxury garages are no longer simply places to store vehicles. They are increasingly designed as part of the architecture of the home - clean, functional and visually integrated with the surrounding interior.

For a private residential project in England, Mutrade supplied a customized S-VRC Scissor Vertical Reciprocating Conveyor to create an inter-floor vehicle transfer system inside a premium private garage.

The solution allows a vehicle to move vertically between garage levels while keeping the lifting equipment concealed when the platform is lowered. The result is additional usable parking space without introducing a conventional concrete ramp or compromising the appearance of the garage.

The Challenge: Connecting Two Garage Levels Without a Ramp

Connecting different parking levels normally requires a vehicle ramp. In a private residence, however, a ramp can consume a significant amount of valuable floor area and impose additional architectural restrictions.

For this project, the objective was different:

  • provide convenient vehicle access between two levels;

  • preserve as much usable garage space as possible;

  • maintain the clean appearance of the upper-level garage;

  • integrate the lifting system into the existing architecture;

  • accommodate premium and performance vehicles;

  • create a solution specifically adapted to the available structural dimensions.

Instead of dedicating a large section of the property to a sloped access ramp, the project uses vertical movement.

This is precisely the type of application for which the Mutrade S-VRC was developed.

The Solution: A Customized S-VRC Scissor Vehicle Lift

S-VRC is an electro-hydraulic scissor-type vertical reciprocating conveyor designed to move vehicles or goods between different levels.

Unlike a conventional parking lift that primarily creates one parking space above another, S-VRC functions as an inter-floor vehicle transfer platform.

The vehicle is driven onto the platform at one level, the system is activated, and hydraulic cylinders move the platform vertically to the required floor.

For this private garage in England, the system was integrated into a specially prepared pit. When the S-VRC descends completely, the lifting structure is concealed below floor level, allowing the upper garage area to remain visually clean and unobstructed.

This concealed configuration is especially suitable for high-end residential projects where both functionality and architectural appearance are important.

How the S-VRC Works

Operation is straightforward.

1. Drive onto the platform

The driver positions the vehicle on the S-VRC platform.

2. Activate the lift

The system can be operated using push-button controls. A remote controller can also be supplied as an option.

3. Transfer the vehicle between levels

Hydraulic cylinders activate the scissor mechanism and move the platform vertically between the configured stopping levels.

4. Park or retrieve the vehicle

Once the destination level is reached, the vehicle can be driven off the platform and parked.

Multiple stopping levels can be configured depending on the project requirements.

A Parking Solution Designed Around the Architecture

One of the main advantages of S-VRC is that it is not limited to one fixed standard size.

Every project can be adapted according to the building, vehicle dimensions and required travel distance.

Mutrade can customize parameters including:

  • platform length;

  • platform width;

  • lifting height;

  • lifting capacity;

  • number of stops;

  • platform material;

  • finishing;

  • color;

  • control configuration.

This flexibility was particularly important for the England project because the lift had to integrate into an already highly finished private garage with glass partitions, premium flooring, lighting and storage equipment.

The mechanical equipment therefore becomes part of the building rather than a separate industrial installation.

Why Use a Vehicle Lift Instead of a Concrete Ramp?

A traditional ramp requires permanent space not only for the ramp itself but also for vehicle turning and approach areas.

A vertical vehicle platform can dramatically reduce this footprint.

The S-VRC therefore provides several advantages for private garages:

More usable floor area

Vertical movement eliminates the need for a long sloped access ramp.

Better architectural integration

When lowered into the pit, the platform can become almost invisible within the surrounding floor structure.

Flexible dimensions

The system can be engineered around the available opening and garage configuration.

Suitable for heavy vehicles

Depending on configuration, S-VRC lifting capacity ranges from 2,000 kg to 10,000 kg.

Large platform possibilities

Platform dimensions can reach up to 6,000 mm in length and 5,000 mm in width, allowing configurations suitable for large passenger vehicles and SUVs.

Long vertical travel

Maximum configured lifting travel can reach 13,000 mm, making the system suitable for projects involving several levels.

Hydraulic Drive for Smooth Vehicle Transfer

The S-VRC uses a hydraulic lifting system with cylinders integrated into the scissor mechanism.

Hydraulic operation provides controlled vertical movement while allowing the lifting structure to remain compact when fully lowered.

Another efficiency advantage is that lowering the platform does not require normal motor power consumption in the same way as lifting, helping reduce operating costs.

For residential applications, where the number of daily movements is typically lower than in commercial parking facilities, this type of system provides a practical balance between performance, simplicity and maintenance requirements.

Safety Is Integrated Into the System

Moving a vehicle between floors requires multiple layers of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical protection.

Depending on the project configuration, S-VRC incorporates safety devices including:

  • emergency stop button;

  • limit switches;

  • proximity switches;

  • pressure relief valve;

  • 24 V control system;

  • overload protection;

  • operational sound alarm;

  • anti-explosion double check valve;

  • oil pressure gauge;

  • optional pressure transmitter.

The hydraulic system also incorporates protection against abnormal pressure changes. According to the S-VRC technical documentation, the system uses a solenoid valve arrangement designed to react to emergencies such as hydraulic hose failure.

Concealed Installation for Premium Residential Garages

For many private homeowners and architects, the key advantage is not simply the ability to lift a vehicle.

It is the ability to hide the lifting equipment when it is not being used.

S-VRC requires a foundation pit so that the scissor mechanism and platform structure can descend below floor level.

For typical vehicle applications, the required pit depth depends on the project configuration. Mutrade also offers customized engineering where construction conditions require a different solution.

In the England project, this approach allows the upper garage to retain its premium appearance, including its distinctive polished flooring, glass partitions and carefully designed interior.

The technical equipment remains below the surface until it is required.

One Platform, Multiple Applications

Although this installation was completed for a private garage, S-VRC can be engineered for many different environments.

Typical applications include:

  • private villas and luxury residences;

  • underground garages;

  • multi-level garages;

  • automobile collections;

  • car dealerships and showrooms;

  • workshops;

  • vehicle storage facilities;

  • industrial buildings;

  • warehouses and logistics facilities.

S-VRC can also be designed for outdoor installation because the structure can be self-supporting and does not necessarily need to be attached to surrounding walls. Outdoor applications should be specified during the engineering stage so that the appropriate configuration and protection can be selected.

Custom Engineering Is the Key

Every building is different.

Garage width, ceiling height, pit depth, vehicle dimensions, structural openings and required stopping positions can vary significantly from one project to another.

For this reason, Mutrade approaches S-VRC installations as customized engineering projects.

Before production, the project can be configured according to:

jobsite dimensions → required platform size → lifting capacity → travel height → pit dimensions → stopping levels → control system → finishing requirements.

This engineering flexibility makes S-VRC particularly suitable for architects, developers and homeowners who need a vertical vehicle transfer solution integrated into a specific building rather than adapted from a fixed standard product.

Transforming a Private Garage in England

The completed England installation demonstrates how vertical parking technology can be integrated into modern residential architecture without making the garage look industrial.

When required, the S-VRC provides direct vehicle transfer between levels.

When the system is lowered, the lifting equipment disappears into the structure and the garage returns to a clean, open space.

For premium residential developments where every square meter matters, this combination of space efficiency, customization and concealed engineering provides a practical alternative to conventional ramps.
